A new strain of wheat leaf rust, Puccinia triticina, which was discovered in South Australia, has now spread to New South Wales. It attacks many commonly grown wheat varieties, including rust-resistant varieties such as Jantz wheat. This rust can cause yield losses of up to 40 percent.
