Subject: A new rust infecting Bellis perennis (English Daisy)

A specimen of Bellis perennis (English Daisy) was recently found infected with a rust, Puccinia distincta McAlpine, in San Diego County, California. This is the first time a rust has been found on Bellis in the U. S. Puccinia distincta McAlpine is known from Australia, New Zealand and Europe, but this is the first discovery of it in the U. S.
