Subject: Heterodera glycines on soybeans in Italy
Date posted: May 01, 2001
Source: EPPO Reporting Service
The nematode Heterodera glycines was found infesting 3 soybean fields near Pavia, Lombardia, Italy in the summer of 2000. This is the first discovery of H. glycines in Italy. The nematode causes stunting and yellowing of the soybean plant, as well as poor root and nitrogen nodule development. The symptoms, first noticed in 1998, were initially attributed to mineral deficiencies.
