Subject: Oriental Fruit Fly Eradicated from California

In the March 7, 2005 USDA Press release, the Oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis was declared eradicated from the state of California. The quarantine in Orange County, the last area under quarantine for the fruit fly, was lifted after zero detections of the pest since September 29, 2004.
