Title: First report of Lasiothyris luminosa as a pest on grapes.

Summary:

Issues of Concern: In 2015, Lasiothyris luminosa (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) larvae were observed causing extensive feeding damage to the flowers and fruits of cultivated Vitis spp. (grape) in Brazil (Costa-Lima et al., 2016). Lasiothyris luminosa is documented as occurring in Brazil since 1969 (Razowski and Becker, 1983) without any reports of feeding on grapes (or any other host plant) prior to 2015. This is the first report of Lasiothyris luminosa feeding on grapes and as a crop pest. Its feeding behavior is similar to that of the European grapevine moth, Lobesia botrana, in that it feeds on flowers and fruits (Costa-Lima et al., 2016). Other hosts that L. luminosa may feed on are unknown at this time.

Distribución: Se conoce su presencia en Brasil (Costa-Lima et al., 2016) y se desconoce su presencia en Estados Unidos, Canadá o México.
